Book Review: On Call in Hell

CDR Richard Jadick, a former Marine Corps officer turned Navy doctor, left a surgery subspecialty residency and volunteered for a deployment to Iraq with the Marines as a battalion surgeon...

In this compelling account of military medicine on the front lines, Jadick tells how he used his background in the Marine Corps and training in trauma surgery to develop and successfully implement a "Forward Aid Station". His actions in Fallujah saved the lives of many Marines. Along the way Jadick describes his struggle to balance being both a career officer and a physician. As a result of his experiences he was awarded the bronze star with a combat V for valor.

On Call in Hell is a very well written book and is a must read for anyone in or interested in a career in military medicine.
